Jose C. Simbulan (SETC Screening Auditions Pianist) is once again happy to be a part of the Virginia Theatre Conference Convention. He got his start "in the pits" while still in high school by playing for various community theatres in the Northern Virginia and DC area. After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, his first regional theatre gig was at Virginia Stage Company. Other work in the DC-area includes productions at Arena Stage, Ford's Theatre, The Kennedy Center, and Signature Theatre. Currently based out of New York City, he has been in the Broadway pits of Lestat and the revival of A Chorus Line. Earlier this year, he served as the Assistant Music Director for Man of La Mancha starring Anthony Warlow at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in DC, as well as the Conductor for Merry-Go-Round Playhouse's production of West Side Story. He is currently in the midst of rehearsals for Gypsy at Virginia Rep in Richmond. The Spring of 2016 will mark his 22nd year as the pianist for the SETC Pro-Div Auditions, as well as his 17th year playing for the Unified Professional Theatre Auditions (UPTA).
