James Cole, Jr. is an American producer and investor in films, theatrical productions, literary projects and financial assets. James is an investor in the Broadway play For Colored Girls (2022).  James is also an executive producer on the short films Fever (2021), 5150 (2021), Frankie (2020), and Burden (2019), and on the film Inez & Doug & Kira (2019). James was a producer on the film Lesson Before Love (2011) and on the New York-based play Wake, An Evolution in Reinvention (2001-2003). He has also invested in the films The Skinny (2012) and Dirty Laundry (2006) and the novel Bankland (2017).

James is the founder and CEO of The Jasco Group. James served as a senior official in the Obama Administration from 2011-2017 and was confirmed by the US Senate in December 2014. He last served in the administration as US Delegated Deputy Secretary of Education.
